About Catterick Bridge
Catterick Bridge, nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, is one of the UK's oldest and most charming racecourses, with racing history stretching back to the 17th century. This dual-purpose track hosts thrilling Flat and National Hunt action throughout the year, offering a welcoming, intimate experience often described as quintessentially British racing. The left-handed circuit is known for its tight bends and relatively flat terrain, though a subtle undulation adds to the challenge. The Flat course measures approximately one mile and four furlongs, with a five-furlong straight run. For jump racing, six fences per circuit test both horse and rider, often favouring agile types. Catterick is renowned for its competitive racing, providing an excellent proving ground for up-and-coming talent. While it doesn't host Group 1 races, fixtures like the North Yorkshire Grand National in winter and the Catterick Dash on the Flat are keenly contested highlights, drawing enthusiastic crowds to this friendly northern stronghold.
