Doncaster Racecourse, nestled in South Yorkshire, boasts a rich heritage as one of the UK's oldest and most revered tracks, with racing dating back to the 17th century. It proudly holds the distinction of being a dual-purpose course, hosting top-class Flat and National Hunt action throughout the year. The track itself is a left-handed, relatively flat, galloping circuit, renowned for its long, testing straight, particularly on the Town Moor side, which demands stamina and true grit. Flat races here range from sharp sprints to the gruelling 1m 6.5f of the St Leger. The jump course is equally fair, featuring mild turns and well-placed fences. Doncaster is perhaps most famous as the home of the St Leger Stakes, established in 1776 – the world’s oldest Classic and the final jewel in the Flat season’s Triple Crown. Other highlights include the Doncaster Cup, the Vertem Futurity Trophy, and the Grimthorpe Chase.
