About Lingfield Park
Paddock Punter punters, welcome to Lingfield Park, a true workhorse of British racing nestled in the Surrey countryside. Opened in 1890, Lingfield made history in 1989 by becoming the first UK racecourse to install an all-weather track, ensuring year-round racing action. This dual-purpose venue boasts a unique setup with a left-handed turf course, a tighter all-weather Polytrack, and a National Hunt circuit. The flat turf track is a demanding 1m 4f oval, relatively flat but with a stamina-sapping uphill finish. The all-weather track, at 1m 2f, offers a fairer test and is a hive of activity, especially through the winter months. Jumps racing here is known for its undulating nature and tight turns, requiring nimble horses and alert riders. Lingfield is notable for hosting the valuable Winter Million festival in January, attracting top-class horses and significant prize money across all three codes. It's also a traditional proving ground for Classic hopefuls with its Derby and Oaks Trials in May, often providing valuable clues for Epsom. A busy, versatile track indispensable to the racing calendar.
