About Uttoxeter
Uttoxeter Racecourse, nestled in the heart of Staffordshire, has been a beloved National Hunt venue since its inaugural meeting in 1907. Surviving two World Wars and various challenges, it consistently provides thrilling jump racing action for spectators. The track itself is a left-handed, oval circuit spanning approximately 1 mile 2 furlongs. Known for its undulating terrain, it presents a genuine test for horses and jockeys, particularly over its challenging fences. A long, uphill run-in to the finish often leads to dramatic conclusions, rewarding stamina and determination. Uttoxeter is perhaps most famous for hosting the Betfred Midlands Grand National in March. This gruelling long-distance handicap chase is a highlight of the jump season, attracting top stayers and often serving as a significant stepping stone for horses destined for bigger things. Beyond this flagship event, the course boasts a friendly, accessible atmosphere, making it a firm favourite with racing enthusiasts and local communities alike. It’s a track where future stars are often spotted, adding to its enduring appeal.
