About Warwick

Warwick Racecourse, nestled in the heart of Warwickshire, boasts a rich history, with racing dating back to 1694, making it one of the UK's oldest racecourses in continuous use. As an exclusively National Hunt track, it offers a unique challenge for jump horses and jockeys alike. The track itself is a left-handed, oval circuit, known for its relatively flat terrain but notably tight turns and sharp bends. This characteristic demands agility and good jumping technique, often favouring horses that can handle a quicker pace and possess tactical speed. Distances range from two-mile hurdles to staying chases over three miles and beyond, providing a varied programme throughout the season. Warwick is particularly notable for its friendly, intimate atmosphere and is often seen as an excellent proving ground for promising novice chasers and hurdlers. Its two most prestigious races are the Grade 3 Classic Chase, a stamina-sapping handicap, and the Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices' Chase, a key stepping stone for future stars. It’s a course where guts and jumping accuracy truly count.
