What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Newmarket rolled out the red carpet with a cracking eight-race card that had everything - Listed class, competitive handicaps, and enough talking horses to fill your notebook for the next month.
The Rowley Mile was looking a picture under the April sunshine, with that perfect spring going of good to good-to-firm in places. You could sense the anticipation building from the first race - this was quality racing served up on a silver platter.
The Newmarket racecard promised fireworks, and boy did it deliver. From promising fillies making their debuts to seasoned campaigners looking for that elusive big-race success, every contest had its own compelling storylines.

The evening's centrepiece was always going to be the British Stallion Studs EBF Nottinghamshire Oaks Stakes, and what a stellar field assembled for this £70,000 Listed prize over an extended mile and a quarter.
See The Fire came into this one rated a whopping 116 - head and shoulders above her rivals on paper. With Rob Hornby in the saddle, she was the one they all had to beat. But Listed races aren't won on ratings alone, and the likes of Lava Stream (rated 102) and It's A Heartbeat (100) weren't about to roll over.
The beauty of this contest was the blend of experience and potential. Love Dynasty brought solid Group race form to the table, while Alla Stella represented the each-way punters' dream - a filly with room for improvement stepping up in grade.
This is the type of race that can launch a season. The winner here could easily be heading for Royal Ascot or the July Festival back at headquarters. Mark these names down - we'll be seeing them again in much bigger company.
Sprint Sizzlers and Handicap Heroes
The Pertemps Network Commercial Handicap over the minimum trip was an absolute belter on paper. Desert Cop headed the weights off a mark of 92, but in a field this deep, anything could happen.
