About Newmarket

Newmarket, the 'Home of British Racing', is a flat racecourse steeped in centuries of history in Suffolk. Its royal patronage dates back to James I, establishing it as the sport's birthplace. Newmarket features two distinct courses: the Rowley Mile and the July Course. The Rowley Mile, used in spring/autumn, presents a long, undulating straight with a demanding uphill finish, testing stamina over five furlongs to two miles. The July Course, for summer fixtures, offers more turns and a gentler profile. As the 'Headquarters of British Racing', Newmarket is truly notable. Beyond racing, it's a vital training hub, with thousands of horses exercised daily on its famous gallops. Champions are born here. The hallowed turf hosts two British Classics: the QIPCO 2000 Guineas and the QIPCO 1000 Guineas, both on the Rowley Mile in May. Other premier events include the July Cup, Cheveley Park Stakes, and Middle Park Stakes, cementing its place at the pinnacle of global flat racing.
